Ever since our expansion, which more than doubled our store, we've had an almost non-existent homepage. That's about to change. The main image is only the start of something new.

We will be adding a new navigation that features all of our medieval armor, roman armor, and much more. Right now it may appear to the general consumer that our site sells products only in the medieval, roman, greek, and viking eras. In other words, the ancient eras. However, we do carry many replica guns, weapons, clothing, and so much more in the Civil War, World War II, Old West, and Colonial ages. We will be adding special navigation links on the homepage to these sections. We will also add a section for weekly specials, which you can check out and get great discounts.

Make sure you check back within the next 1-2 weeks to see the final changes come forth!

Special Offer on Three Suits of Armor!

We have just got in three suits of armor that our customers returned/exchanged for our Spanish suits of armor. I'm talking about the Lorica Segementa premium roman armor. The beauty is brassed lined and has 16-gauge steel plates. It looks very powerful and authentic and will have any Roman fan or collector doing a double take! This piece is also nice for larger men, as it fits a 42" - 48" chest.

The only downside (if you can call it that) is that it weighs a little heavier than our other lorica segmentatas. It weighs around 24 lbs., so you'll tire out if you wear it around for a couple of hours. However, with that kind of weight, you can be assured to be getting a quality piece of armor. We will be adding armor stands for our customers to buy soon, so perhaps you could use it as a impressive display piece. Stock on this item has gone in and out, so check back often on our site to see stock availability. We have 18 on order, which should arrive in 6-8 weeks in time for the passion plays. Pre-order yours now if you want to be guaranteed one!

What's Our Biggest Seller? Over the next few weeks we wanted to let you know what has been our biggest sellers. This may surprise you, but our biggest seller on the entire store has been the Viking Horn Helmet. Because it's so popular, we've been running out of stock frequently. We'll try and get more of these helmets in to meet the demand.

We sell a few different kinds of viking helmets, but the one in particular that is our most popular is made in Denix, Spain, and is a great replica of the famous helmet. It makes for a great display piece and can be worn. Keep in mind that it has about a 23 in. circumference, which translates to a 7 3/8 in. hat size. So, it won't fit everybody, but it will still look cool; even if it does lie a little high on the head!

<link rel='alternate' type='text/html' href='http://armorvenuesource.blogspot.com/2007/12/whats-our-biggest-seller-viking-horn.html' title='What's Our Biggest Seller? This is a black leather breastplate that features a brass design on the front. You can go check it out here.

What's ideal about leather armor is that it is very light weight, making it ideal for costumes or reenactments, yet it still maintains a strong durability. We recommend leather products if you are going to be moving around a lot in your armor. Our steel armor is very authentic and therefore weighs more, but they are great for display or for those who are willing to brave the extra weight!

New Medieval Armor Available

If you go to our medieval armor page, you'll see some new products! And it has multiple answers. In this post I'll do my best to inform you on where we get our products and why we think this are the best quality items to get.

We basically get our items from three countries: India, Italy, and Spain. This is where the majority of armor and weapons replicas are made in the fields that we carry. We have relations with a couple different manufacturers in India that supply us with most of our products in the Roman, Medieval, Greek, and Viking eras. This includes the armor, helmets, swords, and shields. Here they employ skilled craftsmen that hand-make the armor and weapons. No child labor is used.

While we get some of our suits of armor from India, the majority of them come from Italy and Spain. This is where the best suits of armor are made and the quality is unmatched. They are also much more expensive than India made armors. However, if you want the best quality suit of armor that money can buy, then we suggest looking at our premium display suits of armor. This is where you'll find our Spanish display units. If you're on a budget, we recommend buying one of your Indian made ones. These are still high quality and are impressive to look upon, but cheaper cost comes from cheaper labor and less complicated designs.

Our Civil War, WWII, Pirate, and Old West collections mostly are imported from Spain. These replicas are made by the renowned replica maker Denix. Our replicas are truly to historical specs and are authentic reproductions in every way. These are sure to be excellent parts for costumes, reenactments, and more.

That's about it for this post, later we'll cover some tips on keeping your armor rust-free and polished for as long as possible.

New Line of Permium Spanish Suits of Armor Available!

We are very excited to introduce a whole new line of Spanish made suits of armor! I just wanted to give a little background on the civil war weapons and civil war costumes our site has. Our replicas for these items are imported from Denix, Spain. This company is world renowned for making armor and weapons replicas, and their civil war line is no different.

First of all, our weapons, which includes civil war muskets like the Enfield Rifle and civil war pistols, are made in painstaking detail to match the real weapons used historically in the civil war. You will not find any other replicas like them. They are perfect for you history buffs who like to collect collectibles. These guns will display nicely with one of our stands. These of course can also be used for reenactments or stage plays, but keep in mind that they are non-firing replicas and cannot be made to fire blanks or ammunition.

For hard core reenactments, we suggest you take a look at our line of premium civil war hats and other battlefield accessories. These are made to specifications of real hats and accessories used in the civil war. We have deals on bulk orders and can accommodate any size order! Well, that's it for this post, but keep looking for more information on our new line of products!

Here's A Full Outfit of Roman Armor!

<img style="margin: 0pt 10px 10px 0pt; Armor Venue is pleased to announce that it will be expanding by almost THREE TIMES, adding over 200 new products! Yes, that bolsters our current inventory of around 120 items.

We will be adding products in the following categories:

Civil War Era (Weapons, Guns, Clothing, Hats, Cannons, and much more)

WWII and Modern (Replica rifles, such as resin and plastic rifles, weapons, equipment)

Old West and Colonial (Flintlocks, western pistols and rifles, equipment, and so much more)

Pirate (swords, weapons, accessories)

Samurai swords

Fantasy swords

As well as bolstering our line of Medieval swords, suits of armors, and helmets

We are extremely excited to be offering all very high quality replicas in each of these areas. Most of these products are produced in Spain, where some of the best replicas in the world are made. We will be buying from a distributor who directly imports from them. We've also acquired new supplier in Italy and the USA. After this massive expansion, Armor Venue should be running at about 80% capacity! Future product lines we wish to add to our site are clothing lines in the Medieval, Roman, Greek, and Renaissance eras. We will let you know when that is drawing close.

But for now, please check back to Armor Venue in the coming weeks. We expect to have all the new items listed within three weeks. We will also have a graphical overhaul and navigational overhaul of the site. For now, we'll post some product pictures that will give you a taste of what's to come!

New Roman Centurion's Helmet Available

Some of you may have noticed that we updated our picture of the Roman Centurion Helmet. In this post we take a look at how battles were typically fought in the Early Army of the Republic.

The way the battles were fought showed why the army became so powerful. The main force advanced in three lines, consisting of the Hastati, Principes, and Triarii, in that order. The Velites formed a light screen in front. Though it is unclear the exact formation the army took, it is generally agreed that the maniples (units of 120 men) were arranged in a checkerboard formation, so the first line could fall back if need through the lines of the second without breaking up formation.

As the enemy approached, the Velites would pepper the enemy with javelin fire until the depleted their ammunition or else the charging enemy got too close, and then they would retreat through the lines of the Hastati and on to the back of the army . When the enemy came within thirty or so yards, the Hastati would release a volley of their pila, to further weaken the lines and the morale of the enemy. When the fighting became hot, and the first line Hastati become tired or incur too many losses, they would fall back through the Principes, in which case they would pick up the fight with renewed strength.

If they continued to fight and lose ground, then the Principes would fall back through the line of Triarii, which were the last line of defense. They then would present the enemy with a line of heavy spears and fresh strength, which would hopefully be enough to win the battle. As the Roman saying went, “It has come to the Triarii”, meant that the battle had progressed to the bitter end, and was possible the turning point.

Remember to vist www.armorvenue.com to browse through some historically accurate replicas of Roman armor and weapons!

The Early Roman Empire- Troop Types

<p class="MsoNormal" style="text-indent: 0.5in; It should also be noted that the first class of every troop type, based on their finances and property, wore a shirt of mail, to separate and give them a sense of elitism from the other men.

Armor Venue is Nearing Opening!

Hello Fellow Armor and Weapons Enthusiasts,

Armor Venue is happy to announce that we are nearing the opening of our e-commerce site, armorvenue.com! We have been working for a couple months now trying to design the site, get products, and set up the logistics of our business. The final website should be ready to go in a week or so, in which case you can start looking through our quality selection of ancient armor and weapons replicas!

Our site will at first focus on Roman, Medieval, Greek, and Viking/Norman armor, weapons, and accessories. Keep checking our site as we will continue to update and add new products and product lines! We'll keep you posted on exactly when our site is live. In the meantime, we'll be posting some interesting tidbits on the Roman empire for you to look through. Thanks for stopping by, and we appreciate your business!

Regards,
John Hilde

Armor Venue
support@armorvenue.com
